ComCom: Advertising Revenues of TV and Radio Broadcasters Increase by GEL 3.8 Million in the Third Quarter of 2023

In the third quarter of 2023, commercial advertising revenues of TV and radio broadcasters totalled GEL 19.9 million, which represents a 23.5% increase year-on-year. Revenues of TV broadcasters from commercial advertising totalled GEL 18.2 million, which represents a GEL 3.5 million (23.3%) increase over the same period in 2022. Direct advertising accounted for 74% of the revenues of TV broadcasters. The share of sponsorship revenues fell by 3.5%, while the share of product placement revenues fell by around 1% year-on-year. 

Teleimedi once again had the largest share of commercial TV advertising revenues in Q3. Its revenues increased by GEL 1.4 million year-on-year to GEL 6.3 million. The commercial revenues of Media Holding (Rustavi 2) increased by GEL 1.1 million to GEL 2.6 million, while the revenues of Mtavari Arkhi fell by GEL 0.2 million to GEL 1.9 million. The revenues of PosTV increased by GEL 0.5 million to GEL 1.9 million. The advertising revenues of Formula increased by GEL 0.4 million to GEL 1.3 million. TV Pirveli collected GEL 1.2 million in commercial revenues – GEL 0.1 more than in Q3 2022. The revenues of GDS TV increased by GEL 0.2 million to GEL 0.7 million, while the revenues of BMG decreased by GEL 0.1 million to GEL 0.7 million. The Georgian Public Broadcaster collected GEL 0.5 million – GEL 0.1 million more than during the same period last year. The revenues of Palitra News increased by GEL 0.07 million to GEL 0.1 million. The remaining broadcasters collected a total of GEL 1.1 million in advertising revenues. 

In the third quarter of 2023, Teleimedi collected between GEL 100,000 and GEL 500,000 in advertising revenues from the following companies: Diplomat Georgia, Coca-Cola Bottlers Georgia, Sloboda, PSP Pharma, IDS Borjomi Tbilisi, Tskali Margebeli, Smart Capital Consultings, Georgian Distribution Marketing Company, Colgate Palmolive and Archi Promotion. 

Rustavi-2 (Media Holding) collected between GEL 50,000 and GEL 500,000 in advertising revenues from the following companies: PSP Pharma, Coca-Cola Bottlers Georgia, Sloboda, Gulf, Wissol, Colgate Palmolive, IDS Borjomi Tbilisi, Impel Development, Aversi-Pharma and Diplomat Georgia. 

Mtavari Arkhi collected between GEL 7,000 and GEL 500,000 in advertising revenues from the following companies: Coca-Cola Bottlers Georgia, PSP Pharma, Wissol, Diplomat Georgia, Tskali Margebeli, Aversi-Pharma, GM Pharmaceuticals, Cellfie Mobile, Wimm Bill Dan Georgia and McDonald’s. 

TV Formula collected between GEL 7,000 and GEL 500,000 in advertising revenues from the following companies: Coca-Cola Bottlers Georgia, PSP Pharma, TBC Bank, C Corporation 22, Tegeta Motors, Aversi-Pharma, Chinese Medicine Centre, Eristavi National Centre of Surgery, IREX Tbilisi Branch and Diplomat Georgia. 

The top ten advertisers on PosTV, who paid between GEL 7,000 and GEL 500,000, were Cavea, Caucasus Auto Service, Tiflis Pub, Stereo+, Republic, Rdzisame, Palavani, Wissol, Gulf and Diplomat Georgia. 

TV Pirveli collected between GEL 7,000 and GEL 500,000 in advertising revenues from the following companies: PSP Pharma, Coca-Cola Bottlers Georgia, Gulf, Cavea, Gino Park, Tskali Margebeli, Wendy’s, Dunkin Donuts, Diplomat Georgia and Wissol. 

The advertising revenues of radio broadcasters in Q3 2022 increased by 25% year-on-year to GEL 1.7 million, with direct advertising accounting for more than 90% of the revenues, and sponsorship accounting for over 9%. 

Commercial advertising revenues include adverts, sponsorship, product placement, notices and teleshopping.
