ComCom: Advertising Revenues of TV and Radio Broadcasters Increased by GEL 15 Million in 2023

In 2023, the advertising revenues of TV and radio broadcasters totalled GEL 95 million, which represents an 18.8% increase year-on-year. TV broadcasters alone collected GEL 87.4 million in advertising revenues, which is GEL 13.7 million (18.6%) more than in 2022. Direct advertising accounted for 67.7% of advertising revenues of TV broadcasters. The share of sponsorship decreased by 3.1% year-on-year, while the share of product placement increased by almost 1.4%. 

Teleimedi had the largest share of commercial TV advertising revenues in 2023. Its revenues increased by GEL 8.6 million year-on-year to GEL 33.7 million. The advertising revenues of Media Holding (Rustavi 2) increased by GEL 4.5 million to GEL 13.7 million. The revenues of Mtavari Arkhi fell by GEL 2.2 million year-on-year to GEL 7.9 million, while the commercial revenues of PosTV increased by GEL 2.5 million to GEL 7.4 million. 

The revenues of Formula decreased by GEL 0.4 million to GEL 5.3 million. TV Pirveli saw its revenues decrease by GEL 0.5 million year-on-year to GEL 5.3 million. The revenues of GDS TV increased by GEL 1.4 million to GEL 3.3 million, while BMG collected GEL 3.2 million (GEL 1.3 million more than in 2022). The revenues of the Georgian Public Broadcaster fell by GEL 0.7 million to GEL 2.4 million. The revenues of Media Holding Georgian Times decreased by GEL 0.03 million to GEL 0.4 million. The remaining broadcasters collected a total of GEL 4.7 million in advertising revenues. 

The advertising revenues of radio broadcasters in 2023 increased by 21% year-on-year to GEL 7.6 million, with direct advertising accounting for over 90% of the revenues and sponsorship accounting for over 9%. 

Commercial advertising revenues include adverts, sponsorship, product placement, notices and teleshopping.
