ComCom: Advertising Revenues of TV and Radio Broadcasters Increased to GEL 15.6 Million in the First Quarter of 2024

The total commercial advertising revenues of TV and radio broadcasters in the first quarter of 2024 increased by 0.5% year-on-year to GEL 15.6 million. 

TV broadcasters alone collected GEL 14 million in advertising revenues, with direct advertising accounting for 64.9% of the total, and product placement accounting for 18.4%. 

Teleimedi had the largest share of commercial TV advertising revenues in Q1 2024. Its revenues increased by GEL 0.7 million year-on-year to GEL 5.3 million. The advertising revenues of Media Holding (Rustavi 2) decreased by GEL 0.3 million to GEL 1.8 million. The revenues of PosTV remained the same (GEL 1.5 million), while the revenues of Mtavari Arkhi increased by GEL 0.1 million to GEL 1.4 million. The revenues of TV Pirveli fell by GEL 0.3 million year-on-year to GEL 0.8 million. BMG’s revenues increased by GEL 0.2 million to GEL 0.8 million, while the revenues of Formula decreased by GEL 0.1 million to GEL 0.7 million. GDS collected the same amount in Q1 2024 as a year earlier (GEL 0.4 million). Silknet and the Georgian Public broadcaster each collected GEL 0.1 million, with the latter’s revenues decreasing by GEL 0.4 million. The remaining broadcasters collected a total of GEL 1 million in advertising revenues. 

The advertising revenues of radio broadcasters in the first quarter of 2024 increased by 6% year-on-year to GEL 1.6 million, with direct advertising accounting for 91% of the revenues and sponsorship accounting for over 9%. 

Commercial advertising revenues include adverts, sponsorship, product placement, teleshopping and commercial notices.
