ComCom and BTU Organise Scientific Discussion on the Subject of 5G

The Communications Commission and the Business and Technology University have organised a scientific discussion on the implementation and prospects of 5G technology. The event was opened by ComCom member Ekaterine Imedadze and BTU rector Nino Enukidze. Ms Imedadze talked about the process of implementing and enabling the 5G network in Georgia, while the Head of Spectrum and Technology Department of the Commission Sandro Karumidze spoke on the subject of developing the 5G spectrum and infrastructure.

Representatives of the Commission spoke in detail about the measures taken to implement and support the 5G network in Georgia, and the prospects for the development of new generation of technologies in the country. Significant attention was also afforded to Georgia’s prospects of becoming a digital hub. During the scientific discussion, industry experts and professors went through different topics related to 5G technology, including new generation of technologies, legal regulation, as well as the use and benefits of 5G. The challenge of cyber security was also highlighted.

“Implementation and development of 5G is one of the priorities of the Communications Commission. We have been actively working to this end since 2019. Now that we are ready to announce the auction, it is important to raise public awareness. I believe that the scientific circles and scientific discussions will play a special role in this regard,” Ekaterine Imedadze stated.

“The discussions involve scientists who have studied the development of various sectors of the digital economy over the years. 5G technology is highly important for our country and the wider world, as it offers unprecedented opportunities for various industries,” BTU rector Nino Enukidze stated in her opening speech.
