ComCom and Telecommunication Development Bureau Outline Cooperation Plans
Member of the Communications Commission Ekaterine Imedadze and Head of the International Relations Service Nino Grdzelishvili held a meeting with Director of the ITU Telecommunication Development Bureau (BDT), Cosmas Zavazava, discussing the lengthy partnership between the Communications Commission and ITU, as well as future joint initiatives in the field of digital transformation, inclusion and development of digital skills.
The meeting also discussed the activities of the Digital Regulatory Network (DRN), which was established at the initiative of BDT. In 2025, Ekaterine Imedadze was elected a member of DRN, representing the Eastern Partnership Electronic Communications Regulators Network (EaPeReg).
Cosmas Zavazava thanked Ekaterine Imedadze for her active participation in ITU events, as well as for the valuable involvement of the Communications Commission in various ITU activities and working groups. He also noted that Georgia is an important partner and pillar for ITU. During the meeting, Mr. Zavazava expressed his hope that the existing cooperation will be further deepened through joint efforts.
The meeting took place within the framework of the high-level event WSIS+20 and AI for Good Summit in Geneva, which was organised by ITU.
The World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) is a platform that brings together different stakeholders, including the representatives of governments, civil society, the private sector, academia, international organisations, and industry leaders. The event serves to discuss the achievements, key trends, challenges and opportunities for the ITU member states under the 2003 Geneva Action Plan and the UN's 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
