ComCom Cautions Ilioni for the Use of Foul Language
The Communications Commission has issued TV Ilioni with a written caution for violating the Law of Georgia on Broadcasting. Monitoring activities carried out by the Commission established that in October this year, Ilioni aired the programme Morning Politics Live at 11:00, where the presenter used offensive and foul language. Furthermore, the use of foul language was not justified by context.
According to the Law of Georgia on Broadcasting, programmes containing offensive and foul language are inappropriate for minors under the age of 15. Therefore, the law imposes an obligation on the broadcaster to protect the interests of minors and not to air programmes unsuitable for minors between 18:00 and 23:00. Due to the fact that foul and offensive language was used on the air of Ilioni at 11:00, the Communications Commission determined that the broadcaster violated the legislation.
Due to the fact that TV Ilioni had not been sanctioned for a similar violation in the last year, the Communications Commission issued the broadcaster with a written caution.
