The Communications Commission has fined “Teleimedi” for unlawful product placement and violation of sponsorship regulations. In April 2023, ComCom monitored the broadcaster and found violations in the shows “Culinary Duo,” “Imedis Dila,” “Chventan Ertad” and “Chveni Ojakhi.” 

Specifically, the broadcaster violated the Law of Georgia on Broadcasting, which prohibits the placement of a product with undue prominence, contains a direct appeal to purchase the product or influences the content of the programme. It also prohibits the placement of gambling adverts. Furthermore, the broadcaster violated the sponsorship regulations, which prohibit a direct appeal to purchase and consume a sponsor’s product. 

Due to the fact that “Teleimedi” had already committed a product placement violation in the past year and had been issued with a written caution by the Communications Commission, the broadcaster was fined GEL 2500 for repeated violation.
