ComCom Holds a Lecture on 5G at the European University

The Communications Commission held a public lecture at the European University on the subject of 5G to raise awareness about the telecom industry and modern technologies among students. The meeting was chaired by the Head of the ComCom Spectrum and Technology Department Sandro Karumidze, who talked about the advantages of 5G technology and the differences to the existing technologies. The lecture also discussed the current global trends in this field, Georgia’s prospects, and the activities carried out by the Commission to implement 5G internet in the country.

ComCom has already held public lectures on the subject of modern technologies at eight universities across Georgia, and will organise similar events at other universities in the future.

Last year, the communications Commission held an auction for the implementation of 5G technology. The winner of the auction was Cellfie Mobile, which has already implemented 5G internet in Bakuriani and Gudauri.

5G is a new generation of wireless internet technology that will significantly increase mobile internet speed compared to the existing technologies, decrease interruptions and take key sectors such as communications, healthcare, education, business, agriculture and infrastructure to a new level, which will inturn strengthen the country’s economy.
