To raise awareness about the harmful effects of the internet on children and to promote safe use of the internet, the Communications Commission held an informational meeting with parents. The seminar was organised with the support of the association “Parents for Education” as part of the Media and Information Week. The meeting took place in Public School #94, and was attended by more than 30 parents.

ComCom Media Literacy Department representative Ani Gvetadze provided detailed information to the participants of the meeting about children's online behavior and the rules for safe use of the internet, including the risks that exist with regards to improper use of the internet, media usage habits of young people, and the ways of protecting youngsters from harmful effects of the internet.

The Media Literacy Week, which aims to raise public awareness about the importance of media literacy, is held annually following the 2021 UN resolution. The Communications Commission is holding the event between 24 and 28 October this year.
