ComCom Holds Meetings on Media Literacy with Town Hall Employees in Oni, Ambrolauri, Lentekhi and Tsageri

As part of the Digital Support Programme, the Communications Commission held an informational meeting on media literacy with town hall employees in the municipalities of Oni, Ambrolauri, Lentekhi and Tsageri. The meetings were chaired by the ComCom Media Literacy Department representative Mariam Gugulashvili. Participants received detailed information about the importance of media literacy in the modern society.

The meetings discussed the methods of information, persuasion and distinguishing between fact, opinion and false information, as well as ways to distinguish between trolls and bots. In addition, participants learned about the dangers of propaganda, conspiracy theories and disinformation, as well as the opportunities and challenges of artificial intelligence. The meetings also included practical exercises, in which participants analysed and discussed specific examples through team tasks.

The Digital Support Programme is part of the Log-in Georgia project, which is co-funded by the World Bank and the European Investment Bank. It is being implemented to support the Georgian State Internetization Programme. The project aims to provide around 500,000 people in rural settlements in Georgia with access to affordable high-quality internet services, as well as to help develop digital skills and facilitate the use of digital services.
