ComCom Launches Digital Support Programme in Zugdidi

As part of the Digital Support Programme, the Communications Commission held a seminar on media literacy and the use of internet at the Town Hall of the Municipality of Zugdidi. The meeting was attended by employees of the Town Hall Administration, and mayoral representatives from various target areas, who received information about online search engines, social media platforms, Google services, useful online apps and artificial intelligence.

With the help of specialists, programme beneficiaries from more than 10 target villages in the Municipality of Zugdidi will learn how to search for information, create and use e-mail, use Google Maps and Google Translator, share locations, use online communication tools and detect fake news.

Since 2022, more than 3500 citizens from 135 villages of the municipalities of Ozurgeti, Khelvachauri, Kobuleti, Chokhatauri, Samtredia, Ambrolauri and Oni have been trained in media literacy, safe use of the internet and the use of state digital services as part of the Digital Support Programme. The programme is currently being implemented in the municipalities of Zugdidi and Abasha.

The Digital Support Programme is part of the Log-in Georgia project, which is co-funded by the World Bank and the European Investment Bank. It is being implemented to support the Georgian State Internetization Programme. The project aims to provide around 500,000 people in 1000 villages and rural settlements in Georgia with access to affordable high-quality internet services, as well as to help develop digital skills and facilitate the use of digital services.
