ComCom Media Lab Announces Global Media Literacy Hackathon on the Subject of AI
As part of UNESCO's Global Media and Information Literacy Week, the ComCom Media Lab has announced a global media literacy hackathon to raise awareness about the challenges and opportunities related to artificial intelligence and media literacy. Teams can register to participate in the hackathon until 24 November.
The themes of this year's media literacy hackathon are artificial intelligence, disinformation, digital literacy, and cybersecurity. Teams must develop and present ideas to solve challenges related to these topics. Taking into account the relevance of the problem, the effectiveness of the solution, and the sustainability of the project, the 10 best teams will be selected. Together with professional mentors, these teams will then develop a business project, product MVP or prototype of their idea on 28-29 November. Following the intensive training, the teams will present their projects to a jury, after which three winners will be announced. The Communications Commission will award GEL 5,000 GEL to the winning team, GEL 3,000 to the runner-up, and GEL 1,000 to the third-placed team.
Participation in the global media literacy hackathon is free and open to individuals aged 18-35. Each team must have a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 5 members.
The UNESCO Media and Information Literacy Week has been held annually on the basis of the 2021 UN resolution, serving to raise public awareness about media literacy and its importance. One of the main priorities for the Communications Commission, as the body responsible for media literacy development in the country, is to ensure that as many citizens as possible become involved in this process.
