ComCom Member and UNICEF Representative Meet with Teachers as Part of the Project to Integrate Media Literacy into Formal Education

More than 30 teachers received training at the Media Academy of the Communications Commission as part of the project to integrate media literacy into formal education. The seminar, which was led by media literacy expert Natalia Ingorokva, was attended by ComCom member Natia Kukuladze and UNICEF representative in Georgia Ghassan Khalil, who discussed the theoretical and practical issues that will be taught by the media literacy teachers in schools.

The project to integrate media literacy into formal education began in 2022, and serves to introduce an optional subject for 10th graders. The pupils will study under the guidance of trained teachers for one semester and learn about media literacy, media and information language, information processing and disinformation.

The Communications Commission, in close cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, is implementing the “Integration of Media Literacy into Formal Education” project, which is funded by UNICEF. The project will offer training to a total of 500 teachers from every region of Georgia.
