ComCom Member Ekaterine Imedadze Delivers a Speech at the Digital Transformation Forum

Member of the Communications Commission Ekaterine Imedadze took part in the opening of the Digital Transformation Forum, which was organised by the Georgian ICT Cluster and the Digital Transformation Consortium with the support of USAID’s economic security and economic governance programmes.

The Digital Transformation Forum was opened by the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Levan Davitashvili, USAID/Georgia Mission Director Peter Wiebler, Commissioner Ekaterine Imedadze, Head of the Parliamentary Economic Committee Davit Songhulashvili and NBG Vice-President Nikoloz Gagua.

“I am delighted that the Digital Transformation Forum is taking place in our country. On behalf of the Communications Commission, which is a partner organisation of this event, I would like to emphasise the importance of this topic in Georgia. I believe that the telecom sector plays a key role in the development of digital economy, realising the country’s digital potential and establishing Georgia as the regional leader in this field. As you know, digital services must be delivered through the telecommunications infrastructure. One of the priorities for the Communications Commission as the regulatory body is to open the telecom market – allow access to infrastructure, create a framework for sharing the infrastructure and realise our country’s geopolitical advantages. It is necessary to work closely with regulatory bodies and other leading organisations in the sector in order to increase the knowledge and potential in this field. Promoting media literacy in Georgia is another priority and major role of the Commission,” Ekaterine Imedadze stated during her opening speech.

Over a period of 5 days, the forum will cover the following topics: state technologies, digital transformation, education and communications.

Representatives of government agencies, academia, IT businesses and consulting companies will be represented at the forum to discuss current trends, challenges and opportunities in the digital transformation process.
