ComCom Member Ekaterine Imedadze Discussed the Development of Telecom Sector during Online Discussion

Communications Commission member Ekaterine Imedadze discussed the development of the telecom sector and the existing challenges in the industry during the online discussion titled “Georgia and Digital Transformation.” Together with ICT Cluster board member and Digital Transformation Georgia c-founder Davit Kiziria, she reviewed the trends in the telecom sector that have the potential to affect both the industry and the wider society. Furthermore, she explored Georgia’s potential in the global process and the development prospects of the country’s telecom sector.

Ekaterine Imadedze highlighted the role of the Communications Commission in the development of the telecom sector, and spoke about important topics such as the opening of the telecom market and the need for small and medium-sized to have market access, as well as Georgia’s potential to become the regional digital hub. “The task of the Communications Commission is to use its expert knowledge and experience in the field to play the role of the facilitator, which involves harmonising the legislative and regulatory environment in removing barriers to market entry enabling access to infrastructure,” Ekaterine Imedadze stated, adding that increasing the competition on the telecom market remains the main priority for the Communications Commission.

The online discussion “Georgia and Digital Transformation” was organised by the Georgian Information and Communication Technology Cluster, with the support of the USAID Economic Security Programme.
