ComCom Member Takes Part in ITU Council Meeting

Member of the communications Commission Ekaterine Imedadze took part in the meeting of the International Telecommunication Union Council in Geneva, which included elections for the positions of Chair and Deputy Chair of the Council. 

In addition, the event discussed such important issues as the 2024 ITU Annual Activity Report and Strategic Plan; preparations for the 2025 World Telecommunication Development Conference (WTDC-25); ITU projects implemented in 2023-24 and plans for the future; draft ITU budget for 2026-2027 and ITU’s operational plans for 2026-2029; WSIS+20 outcomes and achievements; ITU's new action plan for the implementation of the Global Digital Compact; ITU's role in strengthening trust and security in information and communication technologies (ICT), and more. 

In addition, Ekaterine Imedadze took part in the meetings of the Digital Regulators Network (DRN), where she represents the Independent Platform of Electronic Communications Regulators of the Eastern Partnership (EaPeReg). 

The Council of the International Telecommunication Union consists of 48 ITU member states and aims to create a common policy in the field of telecommunications. The participation of the Communications Commission as an observer in the event plays an important role in Georgia's active involvement in the ITU Council and planning of future measures.
