ComCom Member Takes Part in the Forum Dedicated to Diaspora Day Organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
ComCom member Natia Kukuladze took part in the forum Strong Diaspora in the Service of the Motherland, organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to mark Diaspora Day. The purpose of the meeting was to deepen the ties and cooperation between the state and diaspora, as well as to discuss the existing challenges and opportunities and increase the role of the diaspora in the development of the country.
Participants worked in three different thematic groups, discussing and exchanging information on issues such as education and culture, business and economy, as well as information as a mechanism for the success of the diaspora.
During the thematic panel “Information – The Mechanism of Success of the Diaspora,” Ms Kukuladze focussed on the importance of raising awareness about media literacy in the society, as well as integrating media literacy into formal education, reviewing the Commission’s projects and achievements in this field. In addition, the commissioner talked about disinformation and fake news as the accompanying dangers of technological progress, and media literacy as a crucial weapon against these challenges.
The panel session was moderated by Director General of the General Directorate of Information and Public Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Marine Narchemashvili. Diaspora media, heads of information and broadcasting platforms and agencies took part in the discussion with Natia Kukuladze. Participants of the panel discussion expressed their desire to cooperate with ComCom and to be involved in the existing projects in the field of media literacy.
