ComCom Member Vakhtang Abashidze Opens the Second International Conference on Competition and Consumer Rights

The Communications Commission, Georgian National Competition Agency, National Bank of Georgia, Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission and Insurance State Supervision Service of Georgia are holding the second international conference on competition and consumer rights in Georgia. ComCom member Vakhtang Abashidze, together with fellow heads of regulatory bodies, took part in the opening session on the subject of achievements in the field of competition and consumer rights, highlighting the media literacy and consumer rights protection projects implemented by the Commission. 

“The Communications Commission prioritises the protection of consumer interests. To this end, the Commission is implementing important projects within the scope of its authority, including the protection of the rights of minors and copyright protection. I would also highlight the Commissions activities aimed at providing high-quality services to the consumers and developing media literacy skills among the public,” Vakhtang Abashidze stated.

Mr. Abasidze also talked about the importance of the unified platform established in accordance with the Georgian legislation, which ensures partnership and cooperation among the regulatory bodies. He highlighted the importance of coordination of activities among the regulators to improve competition in Georgia.

The three-day event on competition and consumer rights in Georgia will take place on 16-18 November. It will cover the topics of competition law, consumer rights protection mechanisms, and the activities implemented by regulatory bodies.
