ComCom Presents Media Literacy Projects at the Youth Internet Governance Forum

At the Youth Internet Governance Forum in Georgia, the Communications Commission presented the projects that have been implemented for the purpose of developing media literacy in the country. ComCom Media Literacy Department representative Ani Gvetadze delivered a speech on the subject of “Disinformation in Online Space and Ways of Combatting It,” highlighting the importance of media literacy skills in dealing with the threat of disinformation.

During the meeting, Ani Gvetadze presented the media literacy development projects implemented by the Communications Commission, targeting  young people. Ms Gvetadze talked in detail about the projects that involve school pupils and university students, including “Media Key,” “Media Economics,” “Happy Onlife” and the media literacy contest “Truth or Fiction?” She also introduced participants to the media literacy hub Mediatsigniereba.ge – an online platform created by the Commission that gathers more than 100 media literacy resources for children, teachers and parents into a single space.

The first Youth Internet Governance Forum in Georgia is taking place as part of the eighth GeoIGF Forum. The event is hosted by the Communications Commission, the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia and ISOC Georgia, with the institutional support of the European Council Office in Georgia. The event is coordinated by the Small and Medium Telecom Operators’ Association (TOA).
