ComCom Presents the Digital Map Development Initiative at the ITU Meeting

ComCom IR Department representative Mzia Gogilashvili took part in the Regional Preparatory Meeting (RPM) for the World Telecommunications Development Conference (WTDC) organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). Apart from ComCom, Ms Gogilashvili also represented the Eastern Partnership Electronic Communications Regulators Network (EaPeReg) during the meetings.

The forum featured a panel discussion on promoting cooperation for infrastructure development in the context of universal connectivity. Mzia Gogilashvili talked about the latest achievements of Georgia and the Eastern Partnership countries, the trilateral cooperation between ITU, EaPeReg and the Euro-Mediterranean Regulators Group (EMERG) in 2023-2024, as well as joint future plans. The forum, whose main theme was universal connectivity, was attended by representatives of administrations and regulators from member countries of the ITU European Region.

During the WTDC regional preparatory meeting, the Communications Commission submitted a proposal to the ITU on behalf of Georgia to support the development of broadband digital mapping systems in the country. In addition, a document was prepared to form the basis for the next 4-year action plan of the ITU Europe Office based on the future goals and needs of member states of the European region.
