ComCom Provides Digital Service Training to Librarians in Ozurgeti

The Communications Commission, together with the National Parliamentary Library of Georgia, held a training session to promote the use of the internet for employees of 19 village libraries at the Ozurgeti Techno Park. Librarians from the villages of Askani, Bakhvi, Shemokmedi, Dvabzu, Vakijvari, Mtispiri, Dzimiti, Likhauri, Gurianti, Meria, Tkhinvali, Silauri, Natanebi, Shroma, Ureki, Naruji, Laituri and Naghobilevi, as well as the central library of Ozurgeti, were trained under the Digital Support Programme of Log-in Georgia, which aims to facilitate the use of digital and electronic public services and stimulate demand on the internet.

Training covered the methods of finding information on the internet and the use of online resources. Librarians learned in detail about the benefits of using the internet. Participants gained practical knowledge by working with computers, which will help them manage their personal and professional activities more effectively.

The Log-in Georgia project is co-funded by the World Bank and the European Investment Bank. It is implemented to support the Georgian State Internetization Programme. The project aims to provide around 500,000 people in 1000 villages and rural settlements in Georgia with access to affordable high-quality internet services, as well as to help develop digital skills and facilitate the use of digital services.

The Digital Support Programme of Log-in Georgia is implemented by the Communications Commission. Trainings in the Municipality of Ozurgeti began in May this year. The objective of the Digital Support Programme is to promote the use of internet, enable the rural population of Georgia to use online services, and offer relevant courses. The programme also facilitates the use of online public services and the involvement of public agencies in the process of implementing the programme.
