ComCom Receives Over 500 Submissions for the Media Literacy Olympiad
The Communications Commission has received an unprecedented number of submissions – more than 500 in total – for the Media Literacy Olympiad. The submissions will be evaluated by a competent jury panel, which will determine the two winning schools that will be fitted with a modern media lab.
The Olympiad was open to teams composed of I-V and VI-XII students, each led by one teacher. Teams had to come up with a creative and informative answer to the question “How do we deal with disinformation?" in the form of a blog, essay, article, video, podcast, digital poster or comic. The winning schools will receive high-tech prizes such as laptops, interactive whiteboards, microphones, LED lighting, mobile tripods and banners, allowing pupils to independently create a high-quality media product.
In addition, the ten best submissions will be placed on the media literacy platform https://mediatsigniereba.ge/, while each participant will receive an appropriate certificate.
The UNESCO Media and Information Literacy Week has been held annually on the basis of the 2021 UN resolution, serving to raise public awareness about media literacy and its importance. One of the main priorities for the Communications Commission, as the body responsible for media literacy development in the country, is to ensure that as many citizens as possible become involved in this process.
