ComCom Representative Takes Part in the International Conference for Regulators

Chief Expert on International Relations of the Communications Commission, Mzia Gogilashvili, attended the International Regulatory Conference (IRC) in North Macedonia dedicated to the 160th anniversary of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the 25th anniversary of the Agency for Electronic Communications of North Macedonia (AEC). On behalf of the Eastern Partnership Electronic Communications Regulators Network (EaPeReg), she talked about the cooperation with ITU and the need to share experience and to increase knowledge about new technologies, including artificial intelligence, in the trilateral cooperation regions. 

The meeting was held during a special session at the conference, where participants included the Vice-Chairs of the Body of European Regulators for Electronic Communications (BEREC) and the Euro-Mediterranean Regulators Group (EMERG), and the Director of the ITU Office for Europe. The trilateral cooperation, initiated by the Head of the ITU Development Bureau Cosmas Zavazava, was launched in 2023. It brings together the ITU and two independent platforms of electronic communications regulators in the shape of EaPeReg and EMERG. 

The main topics of the conference were digital transformation, digital infrastructure maps, spectrum management, security of information and communication technologies (ICTs), digital inclusion, digital broadcasting, and a review of the role of regulators in the development of the legal framework.
