ComCom Representatives get acquainted with Ireland’s Digital Ecosystem

The Commission for Communications Regulation of Ireland (ComReg) has organised a meeting of representatives of the Communications Commission and the Ministry of Sustainable Development of Georgia with representatives of the Irish public and private sector regarding strategic development of the telecommunications services sector. The main topic of the meetings was the sharing of Ireland's unique experience in the field of digital and telecommunications policy.

Within the framework of the workshop, the Georgian side got acquainted with important projects such as Ireland's national broadband programme, the country's unified digital strategy, the experience of the Industrial Development Agency, as well as updated regulations for the construction of cable infrastructure. Representatives of international telecom companies Vodafone and Google also participated in the event.

Sharing international practices is essential for developing the country's digital capabilities and establishing a leading position in the region. Realising Georgia's potential to become a digital hub in the South Caucasus will be made possible through the country’s geopolitical location, the existing telecommunications infrastructure, and the harmonised legislative and regulatory framework.
