ComCom Representatives Take Part in the 61st EPRA Meeting
ComCom member Ivane Makharadze and Head of Media Services Regulation Department, Kote Koridze, took part in the 61st meeting of the European Platform of Regulatory Authorities (EPRA), which served to elect the new leadership of the organisation and discuss the ways of overcoming the current challenges in the field of media regulation. The event also celebrated the 30th anniversary of EPRA.
The meeting discussed a number of topical issues regarding media regulation. Specifically, one of the sessions was dedicated to the issues of protecting children's rights and conducting the election process properly on video-sharing platforms and social media. During the session, participants were introduced to examples from different countries. Other topics of discussion included regulatory tools and updated educational approaches, as well as media regulation approaches that determine sound regulatory policies in the country.
The event included Executive Board elections, where EPRA members elected Stephanie Comey, Director of Media Literacy and User Education with the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland, as the organisation's new chair. President of the Council of Montenegrin Agency for Electronic Media, Branko Bošković; Vice-President of the Romanian National Audiovisual Council, Valentin-Alexandru Jucan; Head of International Affairs Department of the Slovak Council for Media Services, Stanislav Matejka; and Director of the UK Office of Communications, Anthony Szynkaruk were elected as vice-chairs.
