ComCom Representatives Take Part in the 62nd EPRA Meeting
Member of the Communications Commission Ivane Makharadze, Head of the Media Services Regulation Department Konstantine Koridze, and Head of the International Relations Service Nino Grdzelishvili took part in the 62nd meeting of the European Platform of Regulatory Authorities (EPRA), hosted by the Armenian Television and Radio Commission (CTR). The main topics of the event were the protection, promotion and development of media pluralism in the digital era, as well as development and implementation of the necessary strategies by regulators in a rapidly evolving environment.
During the event, ComCom representatives discussed opportunities for bilateral cooperation with representatives of regulatory authorities from the UK, Ireland, Lithuania, Italy, Macedonia, Bulgaria and Spain.
The meeting also included thematic sessions where representatives of the Global Online Safety Regulators Network (GOSRN) and the Global Media Registry presented their current priorities and activities. The 62nd EPRA meeting was also dedicated to such important topics as: the existing ways and available tools to promote a diverse and healthy media environment; governance of digital platforms; the opportunities offered by artificial intelligence and the risks posed by the growing use of AI; development of multi-year digital strategies, etc.
The event aimed to share information on the current developments and discuss cooperation issues among EPRA members and permanent observers. The meeting was attended by 115 delegates and invited experts.
The European Platform of Regulatory Authorities (EPRA) is a network of broadcasting regulators, founded in 1995 and bringing together 56 regulatory authorities from 47 countries. Georgia joined the EPRA network in 2013.
