ComCom Representatives Take Part in the Meeting of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN/GAC)
Representatives of the International Relations Service of the Communications Commission, Nino Grdzelishvili and Mzia Gogilashvili, took part in the meeting of the Governmental Advisory Committee of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (GAC/ICANN) in Prague, which was held within the framework of the 83rd ICANN Forum.
The meeting focussed on discussing the position for the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS+20) and the role of ICANN in creating global internet governance policy. The participation of ComCom representatives in the meeting highlights the importance of Georgia's involvement in the aforementioned processes as a member of ICANN's Governmental Advisory Committee (GAC).
The goal of the 83rd ICANN Forum was to share best practices among members of the Governmental Advisory Committee of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers and other stakeholders on issues of internet governance, DNS security and stability, as well as to facilitate the development of national ccTLDs (country code top-level domains).
