ComCom, TPDC and UNICEF Sign a Cooperation Agreement to Integrate Media Literacy into Formal Education

The Communications Commission has signed a cooperation agreement with the Teacher Professional Development Centre (TPDC) and UNICEF to help integrate media literacy into formal education. The agreement was signed by ComCom member Natia Kukuladze, TPDC Director Berika Shukakidze and Deputy Representative of UNICEF Georgia Amy Clancy.

According to the agreement, the Commission handed over the resources created within the framework of the project to integrate media literacy into formal education (media literacy subject standard, textbook and educational module) to TPDC for further training of teachers.

In 2022, the Communications Commission, with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science and the financial backing of UNICEF, launched the project to integrate media literacy into formal education. The project initially served to train 500 teachers, but was extended due to high demand to include around 600 teachers, and will continue to implement this process with the help of TPDC. Trained teachers will have the opportunity to teach the optional subject of media literacy to X grade students, allowing the teenagers to learn about media literacy, media and information language, information processing and disinformation.
