ComCom Trains 10 Students and Affords Them Media Literacy Trainer Status

The Communications Commission has trained 10 students, who distinguished themselves in the “Truth or Fiction?” contest, in media literacy teaching to help them further their careers. During the seminar, professional trainers provided the participants with detailed information about media literacy teaching methods.

Key issues discussed during the two-day informational meeting included digital awareness, peculiarities of social networks, media and information literacy, as well as cyber conflicts and hybrid warfare. At the end of the seminar, each participant received a certificate and trainer status. Certified students will be able to become involved in ComCom’s media literacy projects and hold independent seminars in schools and vocational colleges.

The media literacy contest “Truth or Fiction?” serves to develop analytical, fact-checking and critical thinking skills among young people. The Communications Commission has already held 6 editions of the contest for school pupils, and 4 for university students, with a total of 700 contestants taking part. In addition, the Commission has held around 170 media literacy seminars for over 3700 pupils and students at various schools and universities.
