ComCom Trains Disabled Persons as Part of the Digital Support Programme

As part of the Digital Support Programme, the Communications Commission held seminars for disabled persons in the municipality of Zugdidi about digital literacy and safe use of the internet. With the help of specialists, participants learned how to search for information, create and use e-mail, use Google Maps and Google Translator, share locations and use online communication tools.

One of the priorities of the programme is the promotion of digital inclusion, which implies the involvement of target groups such as women living in the region, as well as ethnic minorities and people with special needs or disabilities. Within the framework of the meetings held in the municipality of Zugdidi, around 70 members of the Union of the Deaf had the opportunity to raise their awareness about digital literacy and the use of the internet.

Since 2022, more than 4500 citizens from 162 villages of the municipalities of Ozurgeti, Khelvachauri, Kobuleti, Chokhatauri, Samtredia, Ambrolauri, Oni and Abasha have been trained as part of the Digital Support Programme in digital literacy, safe use of the internet and the use of state electronic services.

The Digital Support Programme is part of the Log-in Georgia project, which is co-funded by the World Bank and the European Investment Bank. It is being implemented to support the Georgian State Internetization Programme. The project aims to provide around 500,000 people in 1000 villages and rural settlements in Georgia with access to affordable high-quality internet services, as well as to help develop digital skills and facilitate the use of digital services.
