ComCom Trains TSU and European University Students in Media Literacy

In order to raise awareness about media literacy among young people, the Communications Commission held a workshop with students from the European University and Tbilisi State University. The meeting was chaired by representative of the Media Literacy Department of the Communications Commission, Mariam Gugulashvili.

The workshop discussed important issues such as the essence of media literacy and its role in the modern world; possible motives for creating or spreading disinformation; techniques of disinformation and manipulative communication; the significance and characteristics of propaganda and conspiracy theories; as well as artificial intelligence in the context of creating fake news, and the key stages of verifying information. In addition to the theoretical part, the meeting also included team exercises on information verification.

ComCom has already held a similar seminar at the Sokhumi State University, and will continue to implement this process in the role of the body responsible for media literacy development in the country.
