Communications Commission and Commission on Television and Radio of Armenia Sign a Cooperation Agreement

The Communications Commission hosted the leadership of the Commission on Television and Radio of Armenia for a two-day working visit. Armenian colleagues were met by members and staff of the Communications Commission. The regulatory bodies signed an agreement to deepen cooperation in the fields of media and media literacy. The agreement was signed by Communications Commission member Vakhtang Abashidze and Chairman of the Commission on Television and Radio of Armenia, Tigran Hakobyan.   

The parties agreed to coordinate their activities in accordance with the laws and regulations under the EU’s Audiovisual Media Services Directive. The two countries' regulators agreed on bilateral meetings, consultations, sharing of information and experience, as well as expert assistance in the field of broadcasting regulation and media literacy. They also planned future cooperation activities and held discussions on the aforementioned topics, during which the Communications Commission representatives informed their colleagues about the projects, activities and plans of the Commission in the field of regulation of audiovisual media services and media literacy. 

As part of the meeting, the leadership of the Commission on Television and Radio of Armenia, together with ComCom member Ivane Makharadze, also visited the Georgian Public Broadcaster, where the guests learned about GPB’s activities from CEO Tinatin Berdzenishvili.
