Communications Commission Trains Pupils of Ozurgeti School N2 in Media Economics

With the aim to develop media literacy and raise awareness, the Communications Commission has trained 21 IX-X pupils of School N2 in Ozurgeti in media economics. During the training, pupils received full information about social media funding sources. They also learned about the role of each user in social media funding, and about social media economics in general.

The media literacy project “Media Economics,” which has been recognised by EU countries and the Evens Foundation as a successful and effective media literacy project, serves to develop media literacy skills in young people. It is oriented towards teaching the principles of digital media economics. The Communications Commission developed the teaching module together with the course author, director of Zaffiria Media Education Centre, Alessandra Falconi. The module has been adapted specifically to Georgian schools.

The “Media Economics” project has been recognised as a unique approach for raising young people’s awareness about media-related threats. The course is aimed at children aged 10 to 15, who are taught through practical and interactive exercises on multimedia and online platforms. The “Media Economics” project teaches children the basic economic principles of social media. Furthermore, the project aims to ensure that children are properly informed about their online persona.
