Communications Commission trains Samtskhe-Javakheti State University Students in dealing with Disinformation

As part of the Media Literacy Week, the Communications Commission has trained Samtskhe-Javakheti State University students, including ethnic minorities, in dealing with disinformation. Media literacy trainer Anna Gvenetadze taught participants about issues such as critical thinking, identifying fake news and validating information. Students learned about the mechanisms for identifying fake news, filtering, and verifying information, and determining trustworthy sources. They also learned how news are being fabricated.

In accordance with the Resolution of the UN General Assembly, the Communications Commission organized the Media Literacy Week in Georgia for the first time. The global Media Literacy Week aims to raise awareness about the needs and challenges related to media literacy in UN member countries.
