Educational Projects and Contests – Summary of the Activities of ComCom Media Academy in 2024

The 2024 Activity Report of the Communications Commission includes a detailed summary of the activities and projects implemented in the past year by the ComCom Media Academy platforms Media School, Media Lab and Media Critic. 

According to the report, the Media School implemented important project last year. It established the Media School Studio to offer people with an interest in journalism a unique opportunity to launch and develop their media careers. The Media School Studio has 14 certified graduates, some of whom are already working for various media organisations. The four-month intensive practical course allowed students to work in a real news room environment, learn journalism and create a diverse portfolio free of charge. The Media School Studio has all the necessary equipment and is led by industry professionals, which allows participants to independently create a high-quality media product at the end of the course. 

The Media School continued to actively implement the Masterclass project for people interested in journalism. Video lectures by four new authors were added to the series last year, allowing all interested parties to learn journalism and the principles of creating a high-quality media product. In addition, the Media School held seven seminars and practical learning sessions in order to implement high media standards. 

The report states that the Media Lab held more than 15 seminars and workshops for startuppers and trained over 500 beneficiaries, including in the regions. 

Last year, the Media Lab organised the cyber security forum Tech Trek, which served to strengthen the positions of startups and tech companies in the field of cyber security, and to raise awareness in this field. Furthermore, the Media Lab held two editions of the Ideadrome contest, which is designed to discover and support startups. As part of the Media Literacy Week, the Media Lab also held the Global Media Literacy Hackathon, which aimed to discover innovative ways of overcoming challenges associated with media literacy. 

According to the report, the Media Critic platform continued to actively operate in 2024, offering critical analysis of media products. Last year, the Media Critic website published 88 materials with the aim of facilitating critical perception and informed choice in the society. The platform had 256,000 visitors in 2024.
