Ekaterine Imedadze: The Frequency Resource Used by “Cellfie Mobile” to Implement 5G Corresponds to the Standards of the World’s Leading Countries

Cellfie Mobile is implementing 5G technology in Georgia. Fifth-generation internet will be available in time for the winter season in Bakuriani and Gudauri, as well as the Didube and Didi Dighomi districts of Tbilisi. ComCom member Ekaterine Imedadze attended the 5G launching ceremony and congratulated the company in her speech: “I would like to congratulate Cellfie Mobile, as well as the users who will benefit from this new opportunity. I believe that this is the beginning of a historic new stage for our country. The frequency resource auctioned off by the Communications Commission in August this year and used by Cellfie Mobile to implement 5G corresponds to the standards of the world’s leading countries and meets all requirements for the 5G networks. With this news, we stand alongside EU member states and other technologically advanced countries,” Ekaterine Imedadze stated and wished the operator all the best.

Earlier this year, the Communications Commission announced an auction for mobile operators to implement 5G technology. Only Cellfie Mobile took part, even though ComCom took nearly all requests by other mobile operators regarding the terms of the auction into account. Within the framework of the auction, Cellfie Mobile undertook to implement high-quality 5G internet across the country. Thus, Cellfie Mobile is the only operator in Georgia with a license to implement 5G.

5G is a new generation of wireless internet technology that will significantly increase mobile internet speed compared to the existing technologies, decrease interruptions and take key sectors such as communications, healthcare, education, business, agriculture and infrastructure to a new level, which will inturn strengthen the country’s economy.
