Media Academy and Scientific Cyber Security Association Meet Startuppers During the Media Literacy Week

As part of the Global Media and Information Literacy Week, the Media Academy hosted an informational meeting about cyber security with startuppers and students. Due to the fact that safe navigation of the internet plays a great role in the development of media literacy, and digital literacy in particular, the seminar was devoted to the subject of online fraud and protection of consumer rights. The meeting was led by Head of the Media Lab Rusudan Chachanidze and the Scientific Cyber Security Association (SCSA) team – Professor Maksim Iavic (President), Professor Giorgi Iashvili (Vice-President) and Giorgi Akhalaia (Technical Director).

Financial phishing, identity fraud, online theft and data protection – cyber security experts discussed individual examples of these threats and gave the startups recommendations tailored to specific cases.

In light of the topicality of the issue, the Media Academy actively continues to work on cyber security, and will conduct various activities on the safe use of the internet in the future.

The Communications Commission is organising the second Global Media and Information Literacy Week in Georgia on 24-28 October. The event, which aims to raise public awareness about the importance of media literacy, will conclude on 28 October with a summary conference.
