Members of Communications Commission Discussed the Challenges and Achievements in Georgian Media with Czech Senators

The Communications Commission hosted a delegation from the media committee of the Senate of the Czech Republic. During the visit, Vice-President of the Senate Jiří Růžička met with members of the Communications Commission – Vakhtang Abashidze, Ivane Makharadze and Natia Kukuladze. 

The main issue discussed during the meeting was the current media environment in Georgia. The hosts informed the Czech senators about the activities and priorities of the Communications Commission in the field of media. The parties discussed recent achievements with regards to media freedom and the importance of developing media literacy in the society. 

The meeting highlighted the current media-related challenges and future plans, including the importance of bringing the Georgian legislation in line with the EU legislation. To this end, the parties emphasised the importance of fulfilling the duties under the EU-Georgia Association Agreement, which includes approximation with the Audiovisual Media Services Directive.
