Shorena Shaverdashvili – New Head of the Media Academy

The Media Academy of the Communications Commission has a new executive director. Shorena Shaverdashvili will be replacing Davit Kakabadze as the head of the academy. 

Shorena Shaverdashvili has 19 years of working experience in the field of media. She is the co-founder and chief editor of the magazine “Hot Chocolate” and the weekly online political magazine “Liberali.” In 2010-2011, she was on the Board of Trustees of the Georgian Public Broadcaster. In 2008-2011, she founded the media advocacy group Media Club and Dekom Media House. She was also programme coordinator and assistant producer at Internews Georgia. For many years, she was the general manager of the Cezanne Printing House, and later became the managing partner of Cezanne Publishing. 

Shorena Shaverdashvili has worked with the Media Academy as member of the jury panel for the media literacy contest “Truth or Fiction?” 

Shorena Shaverdashvili studied international relations and philosophy at the Tufts University in Boston in 1997-2001. She graduated high school in Nicosia and speaks Georgian, English and Russian. 

The Communications Commission established NNLE Media Academy in 2018 to develop and promote media literacy in Georgia. The academy was previously headed by Davit Kakabadze.
