Strasbourg Hosts the Event to Mark the Election of Georgia as Chair of European Audiovisual Observatory

Georgia will chair the European Audiovisual Observatory in 2024. The Communications Commission will organise a public media conference for EAO in Tbilisi.

To mark Georgia’s election as chair, EAO, the Communications Commission and the Embassy of Georgia to the Council of Europe organised a cultural event in Strasbourg. The opening speeches were made EAO Executive Director Susanne Nikoltchev, ComCom member Ivane Makharadze and Ambassador of Georgia to the Council of Europe Tamar Taliashvili.

The event was attended by more than 150 guests from 46 countries, including members of the diplomatic corps and representatives of the audiovisual sector, research organisations and the media.

The European Audiovisual Observatory has been operating under the umbrella of the Council of Europe since 1992, analysing the facts and data in the European film, broadcasting and audiovisual industry. The organisation currently has 41 members. Georgia became a member in 2016, and is represented at EAO by the Communications Commission.

In June each year, the chair country of EAO holds a public media conference on various topical issues. Georgia will host this event in Tbilisi on 12 June. The media conference will be organised by the Communications Commission.
