“Thanks to ComCom’s Efforts, Georgia has Become an Important Partner for Us” – Director of ITU Development Bureau

As part of the Global Symposium of Regulators organised by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), ComCom member Ekaterine Imedadze and Head of IR Service Nino Grdzelishvili held meetings with the ITU General Secretary Dorin Bogdan Martin and Director of the ITU Development Bureau Cosmas Zavazava. The meetings concerned the issues of cooperation between ITU and ComCom, and joint future initiatives.
The General Secretary thanked Ekaterine Imadedze for her active involvement in ITU events and noted her significant role in supporting the existing initiatives with regards to increasing the involvement of women in the fields of information and technology.
Cosmas Zavazava thanked the representatives of the Commission for their active involvement in the activities and events of ITU and noted that Georgia is an important partner and supporter of the union. He also stated that as a result of ComCom’s efforts, the awareness of international partners about the telecommunications sector in Georgia and the Commission’s activities has increased significantly.
In addition, the meeting discussed initiatives to deepen the cooperation between ITU and the Communications Commission. Specifically, the conversation touched on the measures carried out to implement the digital map for strengthening the broadband infrastructure and services within the tripartite cooperation of ITU, EaPeReg and EMERG.
The Communication Commission prioritises cooperation with industry representatives and stakeholders.
