Davit Chkhikvishvili has been working as operator at Reuters for 28 years. He has covered thousands of significant events, hundreds of protests, and numerous wars across the world. He started working as an operator 32 years ago. His video archive includes unique footages that he will share during the masterclass – video material from wars in Georgia and abroad, including the August War and the conflicts in Abkhazia, Chechnya, Afghanistan, Iraq, Ukraine and elsewhere. For his coverage of the August War, he received a Story of the Year award in New York.

The Media Academy of the Communications Commission started conducting free online masterclasses in journalism in 2020, offering the opportunity to learn from successful professionals about the media, high-quality media product and all issues that a professional journalist may need. The first masterclass cycle included 30 lectures by four authors: journalist Eka Beridze, playwright Basa Janikashvili, journalist Tamta Sanikidze and photo reporter Davit Mdzinarishvili. The first cycle of online lectures was viewed by more than half a million people.

The masterclass is also different in the sense that all interested parties have access to online lectures – it is a customer-friendly platform that you can listen to and watch at a time and place convenient for you.

The online masterclass will continue in the future. The Media Academy plans to invite a number of interesting authors to make the course diverse and interesting to a wide audience.

Contents of the masterclass can be accessed on the YouTube channel of the Media Academy.
