TV Advertising Revenues Increase by 11.3% in the First Quarter of 2022

In the first quarter of 2022, advertising revenues of TV and radio broadcasters increased by 10.6% to GEL 17.8 million. Commercial advertising revenues of TV broadcasters increased by 11.3% year-on-year to GEL 16.3 million. Adverts accounted for 75.6% of advertising revenues of TV broadcasters, while sponsorship accounted for 14.3%, which is a 6.3% increase year-on-year. 

Teleimedi once again had the largest share of commercial TV advertising revenues in Q1. Its revenues increased by GEL 0.2 million year-on-year to GEL 5.4 million. The advertising and sponsorship revenues of Mtavari Arkhi increased by GEL 0.6 million year-on-year to GEL 2.5 million, while the revenues of Media Holding (formerly Rustavi 2) fell by GEL 0.1 million to GEL 1.9 million. TV Pirveli posted an increase of GEL 0.4 million year-on-year in Q1, for a total of GEL 1.6 million. TV Formula’s revenues doubled to GEL 1.4 million compared to the same period last year. Silknet and PosTV each posted an increase of GEL 0.1 million year-on-year, for a total of GEL 0.9 million and GEL 0.8 million respectively. The advertising revenues of the Georgian Public Broadcaster remained unchanged (GEL 0.2 million), while all other broadcasters collected a total of GEL 0.9 million. 

The advertising revenues of radio broadcasters in Q1 2022 increased by 2.8% year-on-year to GEL 1.5 million, with adverts accounting for 89.2% of the revenues and sponsorship accounting for 10.8%. The largest advertising revenues were posted by Radio Holding Fortuna (GEL 810,200), followed by Radio Imedi (GEL 130,800), Georgian Radio (GEL 80,200), Radio Palitra (GEL 73,900), MD Group (GEL 65,200), Voice of Abkhazia (GEL 54,300), Chveni Radio (GEL 44,200), Radio Georgian Times (GEL 39,400), Mediastream (GEL 32,000) and Hereti (GEL 28,100). The advertising revenues of all other radio broadcasters totalled GEL 142,800. 

Commercial advertising revenues include adverts, sponsorship, product placement, notices and teleshopping.
