TV and Radio Broadcasters Collect GEL 18.1 million in Advertising Revenues in Q3 2024
The total commercial advertising revenues of TV and radio broadcasters in the third quarter of 2024 decreased by 6.9% year-over-year to GEL 18.1 million. TV broadcasters alone collected GEL 16 million in advertising revenues (10% less than in the previous year), with direct advertising accounting for 74% of the total, and product placement accounting for 13.5%.
The third quarter of 2024 coincided with the start of the pre-election period for the 2024 parliamentary elections. The current legislation allows broadcasters to air paid political advertising during this period. Therefore, during the reporting period, the time allocated by broadcasters to advertising was divided between commercial and paid political ads, which reduced the amount of time allocated to commercial advertising. Due to the fact that ComCom's reports only provide an analysis of commercial advertising revenues, the current report does not include revenues from paid political advertising.
