At the preparatory session held on February 17, 2015, GNCC has begun proceedings based on a complaint submitted by TV company “Rioni” against TV company “Mega- TV.”

GNCC has announced an auction for issuance of a license to use radio frequency spectrum based on application submitted by “TV 8” Ltd. 

Today, on February 10, 2015 at 9:00 pm, in the Tbilisi Marriott Hotel, the Chairman of Georgian National Communications Commission Mr.Vakhtang Abashidze has opened a two-day conference within the framework of Eastern Partnership Project (EaPeReg).

Today, during the session held on February 5, 2015, GNCC has issued written warnings upon the TV companies “Rustavi 2” and “Imedi,” while mobile operator “Geocell” has been defined as a commissioner of an improper advertisement.

Based on a study and analysis carried out on market sub-segments of the Internet access to the global resources, the Commission has defined “Silknet” JSC and “Caucasus Online” Ltd as the operators holding significant market power.

In accordance with the decision made by GNCC, all three mobile operators will be able to start supplying with fourth-generation (4G) broadband services starting February 1, 2015.

Today, on a session held on January 28, 2015, GNCC had a discussion about an advertisement placed by a mobile operator “Geocell” featuring the news and social-political anchors of several TV companies. In accordance with the Georgian Law “on Broadcasting,”

GNCC has prolonged broadcasting license validity terms for TV company “TV3,” “ Pirveli Radio” and radio “Green Wave” for the next 10 years.

Today, on December 29, at GNCC, the license for radio frequency spectrum usage in order to implement the fourth-generation (4G) broadband services was sold for 50 782 605 GEL. “Mobitel” Ltd was announced as a winner in the auction.

GNCC has granted permission to five broadcasting TV stationsavailable in broadcasting zones in the city of Tbilisi to use radio frequency spectrum in order to ensure digital terrestrial TV broadcasting.
