On July 18, 2015, an analogue terrestrial broadcasting signal will be shut down in Kutaisi, Tkibuli, Tsageri, Poti, Chokhatauri, Ozurgeti, Zestaponi Martvili, Samtredia, Khoni and Senaki, also, the drawbacks of analog television transmitters will be shut down around the territories of the municipalities of Abasha, Bagdadi, Vani, Zestaponi, Zugdidi, Terjola, Lanchkhuti, Martvili, Ozurgeti, Samtredia, Senaki, Tkibuli, Kobuleti, Chokhatauri, Tskaltubo, Kharagauli, Khobi and Khoni.

GNCC has executed the decision of the administrative panel of Tbilisi City Court and in accordance to the decision №403/10 made on June 21, 2013, “Broadcasting Company Hereti” was announced as a winning bidder in the contest for issuance of radio broadcasting license.

On July 9, Shida Kartli’s region transitions into digital broadcasting
On July 9, 2015, at 10 am, analogue terrestrial broadcasting will be shut down in the region of Shida Kartli, in particular: analogue TV transmitters located in the municipalities of Gori, Bekami, Dusheti and Khashuri.

On July 6, the meetings have been held in regards to the transition to digital broadcasting in the municipalities of Khasuri and Gori.
GNCC explains
Per GNCC’S request, mobile operators – “Magticom,” “Mobitel,” and “Geocell” have sent out short text messages to their mobile subscribers defined by the Decree N723 of the Government of Georgia in regards to the shutdown schedule of analogue broadcasting signal transmitting stations during Georgia’s transition to digital broadcasting.

On July 1, GNCC has laid a foundation for the construction of radio monitoring stationary system “Shavnabada” station. The station is set to be located at Teleti mountain ridge.

It has been 15 years since the formation of Georgian National Communications Commission. The first chairman of the Commission Vakhtang Abashidze and commissioners Kakhi Popiashvili and David Pataraia officially held the first session at Georgian National Communications Commission on July 1, 2000.
